Sanguich: Cuban Tradition, Made from Scratch

Sanguich Miami

Sanguich’s story starts in Miami, with two locals who grew up surrounded by the rhythms, flavors, and rituals of Cuban culture. Founders Rosa Romero and Daniel Figueredo built Sanguich from a shared belief that everyday food can carry deep meaning when it’s made with intention. What began as a passion project between two Cuban American entrepreneurs has grown into one of the city’s most beloved culinary names—without losing the values that shaped it: pride in craft, respect for tradition, and genuine care for every guest.

Now open in Treats Food Hall at Aventura Mall, Rosa and Daniel bring that same spirit to a new chapter, introducing more people to Cuban cuisine as living culture. At Sanguich, every pressed sandwich, every cafecito, and every detail reflects their commitment to doing things the right way, from-scratch ingredients, thoughtful balance, and food that feels both familiar and unforgettable.

Rooted in Tradition

From the start, Sanguich has stood out for doing things the hard way, on purpose. Nearly everything is crafted in-house, with an attention to detail that feels increasingly rare. The owners point to their jamón as the clearest expression of that commitment: seasoned in-house with fresh spices, made without fillers or artificial ingredients, and sourced from a single family farm they trust. It’s not flashy, and it’s not meant to be. It’s a choice rooted in respect for ingredients, process, and the people they feed.

That same mindset shapes how Sanguich approaches the Cuban sandwich and other classics. Their philosophy is not to reinvent tradition for novelty, but to understand it deeply. Instead of asking how to change a dish, they ask why it was made that way in the first place. The result is food that feels true to its origins while still feeling alive in the present, thoughtful, balanced, and unmistakably intentional.

Balance is really the keyword. Cuban food is bold, but at Sanguich, bold never means heavy-handed. Acidity, sweetness, fat, and salt are calibrated so each bite feels complete without any one element taking over. Guests can feel this in every bite. That quiet harmony is part of what makes the experience so memorable.

Opening at Aventura Mall felt like a natural next step because “Aventura represents a crossroads—locals, travelers, generations, cultures—all in one place. Sanguich has always been about Cuban food as a living culture… opening there felt like a chance to introduce that story to a broader audience without losing who we are,” said Daniel Figueredo.

Even with Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition four years in a row, the brand’s center of gravity hasn’t shifted. If anything, that acknowledgment reinforced what mattered from day one: consistency, value, soul, and hospitality. At its core, Sanguich is still about making people feel welcome, whether someone is trying their first Cuban sandwich or returning for the flavor they already know by heart.

Now open in Treats Food Hall, Sanguich brings that full spirit to Aventura Mall with food with memory, craft with purpose, and a reminder that even on a fast-moving day, a great meal can still make you pause.
