Inside the Icon: FENDI Peekaboo

FENDI AM

Some icons don’t just return—they evolve. Since its debut in 2008, the FENDI Peekaboo has become one of the Maison’s most defining signatures: a Roman-crafted classic with a playful streak, named for the childhood game that’s all about the reveal. At first glance, it’s clean and composed. Then comes the twist of the turnlock, and the Peekaboo’s signature curved “smile” opens to show what makes it unforgettable: the surprise within.

For Spring/Summer 2026, the Peekaboo leans fully into its true DNA of bold femininity, timeless elegance, and a sense of fun that never takes itself too seriously. It’s a study in opposites: minimal exteriors paired with interiors that feel like hidden treasures, designed to be discovered slowly, one detail at a time.

The Art of the Reveal

FENDI

This season’s Peekaboo is all about what happens inside. Subtle outer shells open to unveil intricate worlds of paillettes, beads, studs, and crystals—each one crafted by hand in a feat of savoir-faire that feels equal parts couture and jewelry-making. These aren’t surface-level embellishments. They’re the kind of meticulous interior artistry that turns an accessory into a collector’s piece, a quiet flex for those who notice.

Across the lineup, glamorous paillettes appear in striking variations with some requiring more than 40 hours of manual work. Inside, the Peekaboo becomes a canvas for FENDI, including studs arranged like a dimensional mosaic, crystal details that glow against deep tones, and embroidery that feels almost couture.

An Inside Peekaboo

Three standout expressions rise to the top this season, each capturing the Peekaboo’s mastery of contrast and craftsmanship. These hero styles spotlight what this collection does best: turning the inside of the bag into the main event, where artistry, color, and savoir-faire take center stage.

Pink handbag

A pink mink version represents the collection’s purest expression of artistry. Wrapped in plush blush mink, one interior compartment is entirely hand-embroidered with multicolored glass beads forming an abstract floral motif—a process that takes more than 200 hours to complete. The second compartment offers a refined contrast, lined in pink calfskin with a discreet inner pocket, while leather binding, gold-finish hardware, and the iconic twist lock on both sides complete the design. Finished with a structured top handle and an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap, it transitions effortlessly from hand-held elegance to shoulder or cross-body wear.

Yellow handbag

Equally captivating is the Peekaboo rendered in broom yellow calfskin, a sunny yet sophisticated interpretation that balances structure with romance. Crafted in smooth, silky-finish leather, this version reveals an interior that feels almost sculptural: one compartment adorned with multicolor studs in varying shapes and tones, each placed by hand to form a vibrant floral motif. The effect is graphic yet delicate—less couture embroidery, more modern, jewelry-like precision, balanced by a tone-on-tone suede-lined compartment and a leather-bound partition with gold-finish hardware.

Brown handbag

Another standout arrives in rich mahogany brown calfskin with a silky, polished finish that feels both timeless and modern. Inside, one side of the rigid partition is adorned with 552 hand-placed crystals forming a geometric lilac floral motif, a dazzling interplay of structure and sparkle. A tone-on-tone suede interior with two compartments and an internal pocket completes the design, blending statement-making artistry with everyday function.

What makes the Peekaboo so enduring is that it’s never just one thing. It can feel classic or mischievous, understated or dazzling—depending on what you choose to reveal. That duality is the point: the outside is poised, and the inside is a story. And in Spring/Summer ‘26, that story is written in texture, color, and the kind of craftsmanship that can only come from the hands of true artisans.
