The leaves are (somewhat) falling and pumpkin spice flavors are everywhere— it’s officially time for a “Fit Check” to match that fall feeling.
To help you refresh your autumn wardrobe, South Florida stylist Nat Rosenfeld stopped by Aventura Mall to share five fashion trends we’ll be seeing all season long – and some pro styling tips.
From neutral leathers to western style booties, these looks will be perfect for the pumpkin patch, Thanksgiving and beyond:
Are we the only ones who thought we were abandoning the preppy look after receiving a diploma? Nat’s here to tell us there’s a major preppy rebrand happening, and it’s starting with the revival of sweater vests. Zara and Aritzia have been making a case for sweater vests for quite some time, but this season brings fresh ways to style all those oversized button-downs you bought this summer. Not to mention, a solid pair of loafers will have you feeling equal parts effortless and polished – and just like your favorite influencer.
Nat’s Notes: “Don’t be afraid to play with socks. Paired with the right pair of loafers, they can really elevate your preppy look.”
From day to night, skirts are extending to the floor this season. This effortlessly chic maxi trend is no longer reserved for bohemian style status: just look at these pieces from Maje, Anine Bing and Sandro’s Fall 2022 collection. In autumn-approved denim and sheer or shimmering fabrics, a maxi/midi skirt becomes a versatile piece around which you can build your fall wardrobe. Dress it down, dress it up – whatever you choose, it’s a piece that won’t go unnoticed.
Nat’s Notes: “Find a maxi length that compliments your height. If you are on the shorter side, mid-length skirts may be the way to go!”
Kick your fall wardrobe up a notch with western-inspired boots. When paired with flowy silhouettes, structured basics, denim shorts and the aforementioned maxi skirt trend, “cowgirl boots” get an as-seen-on-the-runways upgrade. If you really want to lean into the look, add a buckled belt from Maje or saddle-shaped handbag from Michael Kors for some equestrian-inspired elegance. Bonus: This fall shoe trend transitions seamlessly between seasons.
Nat’s Notes: “Match your accessories with the color of your boot! If you’re looking for a new pair, look for a neutral tone instead of a pop of color.”
It’s giving “Sporty Spice” – with a touch of sleek sophistication. Take Nat’s word for it: fewer outfits look as effortlessly cool as one that combines fitness pieces (we’re partial to a matching set and chunky kicks) with work staples such as a classic black blazer. Add trendy accessories like small hoop earrings, a crescent-shaped handbag and baseball cap, and you’ve got a timeless head-to-toe look that says, “I can do it all.”
Nat’s Notes: “Focus on layering, and don’t be scared to play with accessories, like the Anthropologie baseball hat.”
From staple pieces like Ted Baker’s pants and the Chocolate Colored Pistola Blazer (available at Blended), to modern must-haves like Maje’s White Crop Top and Jonathan Simkhai’s Dress (also at Blended), we’re certainly entering our leather era. This season, head-to-toe leather looks dominated the runways, with a mix of tones and fabrics creating a perfect formula for high-low dressing. These versatile pieces make it easy to integrate leather into your wardrobe, inspiring many of our fall looks.
Nat’s Notes: “Focus on neutral tones, from light greys and beiges to chocolates and camels. Combining neutral tones is the must-watch leather trend.”
