Aventura Mall Inspires Reading With Little Free Library Book Exchanges

AVENTURA, Fla. – May 23, 2017 – Aventura Mall continues to surprise and delight its visitors and South Florida residents with unique experiences. The shopping center has partnered with Little Free Library and is now offering access to dozens of free books for the entire family. Little Free Library is an award-winning nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering thousands of neighborhood book exchanges around the world.

Located at the Concierge Center and Visitor Center, Aventura Mall’s handmade, 25” wide by 23” tall book exchange boxes resemble miniature houses with front glass windows that open to provide easy access. Based on the “take a book, return a book” philosophy, guests can grab a book to read while visiting the mall or in the comfort of their home. Once they are done with the book, they can return it and/or donate a different one for other readers. In addition, events for all ages will be announced in the coming months as an extension of the Little Free Library program.

“I’ve been delighted to come across Little Free Library several times in my travels and knew it would be perfect for Aventura Mall,” said Jackie Soffer, Co-Chair and CEO of Turnberry Associates, owner and manager of Aventura Mall. “It is terrific to see our shoppers pick up a book for themselves and even more exciting to see them leave a favorite for someone else to read.”

Aventura Mall also promotes literacy through its Kids Club program, which provides a free book to all children who attend events.

“Aventura Mall is more than just a shopping destination; it’s a neighborhood gathering place for locals and international visitors,” Soffer said. “We’re always searching for those personal touches, such as Little Free Library, to create a bond with our consumers.”

Established in 2012, Little Free Library has helped bring access to books to millions of readers and has been praised by multiple publications including The New York Times, which referred to it as “a global sensation!”
