Kicking It in High Gear with Diane Von Furstenberg and Castañer Collab

When two legendary brands credited with raising female style to new heights decide to collaborate, the chic factor goes through the roof. This month the legendary Diane Von Furstenberg and Castañer, the iconic Spanish espadrilles maker, are launching a capsule collection of 13 pieces that perfectly summarize bold and strong women and their joie de vivre.

The assortment is presented in various footwear models; from the classic Chiaras and Carinas dressed in eye-catching prints, to the versatile Paloma in high and low versions with imposing ankle laces, the range is as comfortable as it is feminine harkening back to Von Furstenberg’s motto as a designer. “I love being able to give women the tools they need to feel more beautiful and confident,” she mentioned in a statement. The collection also features the romantic and spirited Blaudell maxi wedge, an undisputed star of the group, and an homage to Diane herself.

Reflective for her focus on the sensuality of women and personal preference for glamorous yet practical designs, Blaudell features DVF’s signature print and a spirit of fun and sophistication. In addition to the lip print, the capsule highlights animal print and multicolor palette, once again celebrating the glitz and glamour of the 70s. Case in point; the versatile Laos, Paos and Kleo are dressed in cheerful shades of orange, pink and white that exude the spirit of that aspirational decade as is Laos delivered in black base with subtle touches of gold. Think Disco Inferno.

Like all of the espadrilles in the Castañer catalog, the designs co-created by Diane Von Furstenberg are produced in an entirely artisanal way in the family’s workshops founded back in 1927 by Luis Castañer and his cousin Tomàs Serra. Today all Castañer’s footwear catalogue is handcrafted with the same care as it was almost a hundred years ago. This virtuoso work treats each shoe as a work of art. Something Diane Von Furstenberg, who treats dressing women in similar fashion, knows a lot about. To check out the line in person, stop by Castañer on the Upper Level near Nordstrom or call 786-320-5401 for more information.
