This season, an English sports and outdoor retailer is making bold moves on the increasingly sought-after market, and its plans to set up shop at the Aventura Mall is just the beginning of dominating the space.
JD Sports was founded in 1981 as a single store in Lancashire, UK. The title was inspired by two names of the shop’s founders, John Wardle and David Makin using the first letters of both their first names to coin the moniker. It has since expanded to become a multinational company, with over 2,500 stores in a variety of countries. JD Sports is the largest sportswear retailer in the United Kingdom and has a significant presence in Europe and Asia. The company sells a wide range of products, including sports clothing, footwear, and equipment. It’s flagship in Aventura Mall is expected to really kick things up a notch and we can’t wait.
Upon arrival at the new store expect to see some sportswear stalwarts like Nike, Adidas and the like mixed in with an exciting range of hard-to-find European brands and other unexpected merch. Part of JD Sports’ appeal is the way in which it positions the available brands often mixing Nike running shorts with Juicy Couture tops and Hoodrich hoodies for a look that’s unique and fresh.
Of course, the sneakers make up a large portion of the merchandise available and, as is the case with sportswear, you will notice some hard-to-find brands like On and exclusive collabs with Nike and New Balance. Other not-to-be-missed collections available only at JD Sports include McKenzie, Supply & Demand, Pink Soda Sport and Sonneti.
