Everyone’s favorite British heritage brand has released an idyllic collection to usher in the new season. Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, a playful twist on the brand’s 166-year-long history, exudes the chic feeling of fall via womenswear and menswear that bridge tradition and trendiness.
The men’s and women’s lines both build on a rich history and bold regalia. Burberry’s famous trenches and check print aren’t the only call back to the fashion house’s English heritage: the sophisticated collection features classic hallmarks and British conventions that evoke pictures of a pastoral Britain with a touch of royalty. Autumnal hues and crystal details paint the perfect picture of British countryside, while fresh silhouettes and fabrications bring modernity and a mélange of British subcultures to the forefront.
Some modern iterations from Burberry’s archives include the Equestrian Knight Design, which appears on knitwear and jackets, and oak leaf crest. The unforgettably chic trench coat, a quintessential Burberry design, reappears in the collection with a revolutionary redesign: a soft fawn style with chain-link details, trompe l’oeil prints and elegant pleating.
First up: the womenswear line, which is both feminine and dramatic. Rose pink and grey knitted twinsets are emblazoned with scintillating crystals while vintage-inspired florals form floral corsets. The rural-meets-royal collection also features Polka-dot printed coats, pleated kilts, and boxy blazers.

Playing to England’s nobility, the collection also leans into glamorous eveningwear. From a dandelion yellow organza gown to black velvet tops, Burberry’s cachet is fit for a queen. Among a sea of feather-trimmed dresses and floor-length skirts, you’ll find an old-yet-new friend: the classic trench coat. Using the trench coat’s iconic silhouette, Burberry has reconstructed a voluminous strapless gown that deserves all the fanfare.
The women’s line also includes two brand new styles entering the Burberry canon. The Catherine bag, featuring Horseferry-embossed leather, debuts in a shoulder bag, crossbody, and bum bag, while a new 1980s-inspired cat-eye frame is perfect to wear on sunny South Florida days.
The menswear collection is just as inventive and exciting, with inspiration from British iconography, Trompe l’oeil photographic prints and fresh interpretations of the Equestrian Knight Design and oak leaf crest. Outerwear is reinvented as aviator jackets, car coats and bomber jackets are reconstructed with off-the-shoulder panels in rib-knit, shearling and faux-fur fabrications. The ode to British subculture uniforms continues with the trench coat, embellished with an exaggerated hood. Horseferry-print puffer jackets and hooded duffle coats come in dark umber and red wool, an ideal combination for the upcoming winter ahead.
The collection also features high-waisted trousers, layered polos, oak-leaf embroidered shirts and a range of earth-toned accessories including sporty sunglasses, leather gloves and baseball caps. Not to be missed is the Arthur sneaker, a shoe that blends hiking with skate wear. The hybrid style fuses a leather brogue upper with the rubber overshoe and sole.
