For Spring-Summer 2024, Ferragamo Creative Director Maximilian Davis explores and evolves the codes he has developed, imbuing his distinct aesthetic with organic ease while drawing on the relationship between balance and tension.
“I wanted things to feel a lot lighter, both in terms of fabric and construction but also in terms of how people want to dress,” Davis explains. He draws comparisons between the “Italian way of dressing” and “effortlessness which feels very Caribbean”, a style concept close to the heart of any Miamian.
“The idea of doing everything at your own pace, on your own time.”
The spirit Davis invokes was made real here last month when the Italian high-fashion house opened its newest location at Aventura Mall to great fanfare, replete with new looks from the luxury brand’s latest collection.
Ferragamo’s grand debut at Aventura Mall is a testament to the brand’s enduring legacy of impeccable craftsmanship, innovative design, and timeless elegance. The newest collection’s neutral color palette, accentuated by vibrant pops of color, brings a fresh energy to classic silhouettes, making them perfect transitional pieces for any wardrobe. In concert with the location opening, the campaign serves as an invitation to Miami to explore a world where tradition meets contemporary style, and where every accessory is meticulously crafted to stand the test of time.
While drawing parallels between the spirit of Italian and Caribbean dress codes, the collection also finds inspiration in the situated contrasts of Italy’s Arte Povera movement, which often positioned natural materials alongside industrial elements and elevated the everyday through careful consideration.
For Spring-Summer 2024, humble linens and cotton are approached with rigorous finesse, bonded onto satins for capes or treated to appear as leather; sculptural wooden accessories and details polished to perfection; precise silhouettes expressed in natural fabrics.
The collection features a subversive interplay between restraint and freedom: a slouching insouciance is expressed in the worn texture of leather tailoring, while pristine mid-century tailoring is slashed into fluidity. Viscose jersey drapery, rooted in Ferragamo’s Florentine heritage and echoed in 18th century Caribbean dress, now appears paired with the language of Renaissance armor: molded spazzolato leather bodices and rigid, high-shine inserts.
The narrative unfolds as a captivating blend of imagination and reality, featuring a woman and a man in Ferragamo clothes and accessories, cocooned within the familiarity of their home. Each frame exudes a sense of comfort, confidence, and self-awareness within the tranquility of their personal space.
The new campaign establishes a rarified and abstract dialogue that pays homage to Ferragamo’s Italian tradition and heritage. Davis artfully combines his own influences with the Ferragamo legacy, incorporating intermittent glimpses of Florence in an intimate conversation around timeless elegance and contemporary ease.
The boutique at Aventura Mall has been carefully designed to integrate the values for which the Italian house is universally recognized: craftsmanship and innovation. Its characteristic facade is framed in polished stainless steel and contrasts perfectly with the storefront’s beige color and illuminated brand logo, making it a can’t-miss on the Lower Level.
