Pandora Ventures Under the Sea for “The Little Mermaid” Inspiration

Ariel’s fans everywhere are in for a real treat as Pandora has announced the launch of The Disney x Pandora Little Mermaid collection that dropped on May 25, a day before the world premier of “The Little Mermaid,” visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of the studio’s Oscar®-winning classic. Naturally, brand’s store at Aventura Mall will carry the collection.

The new seven-piece assortment, called “Journey Beyond the Sea,” draws inspiration from the main character Ariel, a rebellious young mermaid, who yearns for a life on land and the love of human prince Eric. “The collection captures the essence of friendship and adventure, with designs that bring to life new perspectives of the reimagined classic, championing female empowerment and independence,” said Pandora SVP Creative Director, A. Filippo Ficarelli.

As such, the collection includes 14K gold-plated Seashell Stud Earrings, which ring in the under-the-sea theme with grooved lines and a white lacquered artificial pearl sitting luminously at the center of each stud. The assortment also features a 14K gold-plated Shell Dangle Charm, which recalls the enchanted nautilus shell that held the Disney princess’ voice in the movie. The dangling shell charm is engraved with the phrase “My voice is a treasure,” a nod to the film’s important tenor.

“Journey Beyond the Sea” is another example of Pandora’s commitment to the message of female empowerment. The brand participates in global forums and supports global charity partners that enable more women and girls to realize their potential. Pandora is also a signatory of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) established by the UN Global Compact and UN Women. The set of principles offers guidance to businesses on how to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community.

This collaboration, however, is not the first fairy tale rodeo for Pandora. The jewelry maker has partnered with Disney previously, with collections that paid homage to the entertainment giant’s long list of characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a slew of Disney princesses, and Marvel superheroes. To get an immersive and out-of-the-box “Journey Beyond the Sea” experience be sure to check out the sand sculpture being built in honor of this collaboration just outside the Pandora’s Aventura Mall location now through May 30.
