If you need further proof that the ‘90s fashion are having a major moment, we invite you peruse the rich restraint expressed through structural silhouettes and translucent layers that is Tory Burch’s Spring 2023 collection. A mix of Patricia Field’s costume design on Sex and the City with a touch of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’ sleek and timeless aesthetic. “There is this concept of minimalism for the show, but I wanted rich minimalism that had more detail and structure to them,” Burch explained in a post-show interview with Vogue Singapore. “I just think women just want things that will last.”
This structured minimalism was distilled by way of layering of breathable jersey fabrics, ruched miniskirts over flowy sheer maxi skirts, and capri leggings. The color palette was cool and fresh—mint greens and juicy oranges, lavenders, and butter yellows—and the silhouettes paid a strong homage to decade of the slim-fitting blazer coats, midi skirts and straight-leg jeans. On the footwear/accessory front, the Tory Burch girl this spring has options from squared-off soles to doubled-up slingbacks, to a standout mule that plays with Surrealism thanks to a trompe l’oeil “toe ring” and inverted “gravity heel.” The collection’s new handbags include a ’90s-inspired doctor bag, brand’s new take on the modern work bag and a small, square shoulder bag with a cut-out double T signature logo.
For those who have not seen the runway show, Tory Burch’s Spring 2023 campaign does a fabulous job of evoking the spirit of the collection, set against the expansive, sun-drenched horizons of the Hollywood Hills. Celebrating the strength of women and the power of femininity, motherhood, and family in all its forms, the campaign features Vittoria Ceretti, Ugbad Abdi and Emily Ratajkowski, whose son, Sylvester, joins her in several photos. (Ratajkowski walked in the Spring 2023 show.) Handbags and accessories from the Spring 2023 campaign are now available in the Aventura Mall boutique.
The campaign, styled by Brian Molloy and photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth, shows off a range of runway looks, from mirrorwork gowns to sporty viscose separates, Italian wool blazers, tech-satin skirts and ruched jersey bandeaux anchored by Pierced Slingback, Cosmic Hoops, Miller Bombé Low Heel Sandal and new T Monogram totes and bucket bags in ivory and denim jacquard.
