Brands Giving Back to Breast Cancer Research and Survivors

While October signifies the start of festive holidays, it also marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a time of heightened awareness for the most common form of cancer affecting women in the United States.

While the acts of donating to breast cancer research, raising awareness of the disease, and honoring its fighters should undoubtedly be practiced year-round, this month commands our collective attention as a nation, encouraging us to join forces and fight the good fight until cancer is a term reserved for the history books.

Every year, brands do their part to bring the dream of a cancer-free world to reality by donating proceeds from their limited-edition “pink” sales to organizations fundraising and fighting for the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Here are a few retailers and restaurants giving back this Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

Jimmy Choo launched its second limited-edition capsule collection in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which is dedicated to advancing the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer.

Exclusive to the United States, the collection will be available starting October 1st at select Jimmy Choo boutiques and JimmyChoo.com. The curated selection of shoes and handbags are released exclusively in the perfect shade of candy pink. Jimmy Choo is donating 20% of the purchase price from items in this collection to BCRF, up to $100,000.

David Yurman strives to make breast cancer a thing of the past. The American luxury jeweler announced its 14th annual partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BRCF), donating a portion of the proceeds from its dedicated, limited-edition pink jewelry collection sales to support the organization’s lifesaving research.

David Yurman is donating 20% of the purchase price of each of its ribbon motif pieces – as well as 100% of net profits ($16 of the $20 purchase price) from its pink rubber Cable Bracelets – to BCRF on an ongoing basis year-round. Additionally, the brand will donate 20% of the purchase price from a wider BCRF assortment sold at David Yurman retail locations in the United States and Canada for the entire month of October.

This year also marks the second annual David Yurman Award for Breast Cancer Research, in the amount of $500,000, awarded in recognition of David Yurman’s significant fundraising efforts for the Foundation.

Ralph Lauren himself has long been a strong supporter of the fight against breast cancer. In 1989, he cofounded the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in honor of his close friend and Washington Post fashion editor Nina Hyde.

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Ralph Lauren Center Launched in 2000, the Pink Pony Campaign is Ralph Lauren Corporation’s global initiative in the fight against cancer, supporting programs that help to ensure quality treatment and reduce the disparities in cancer care. When you shop the Pink Pony collection, 25% of each item’s purchase price is donated to Ralph Lauren’s fight against cancer. And, when you shop the unisex fleece Pink Pony Hoodie, 100% of the purchase price is donated.

Inspired by the strength we find in nature, adidas’ new Breast Cancer Awareness Collection includes a variety of bright, outdoor-friendly athletic pieces, including running shoes, mountain bike shoes, wind jackets, long sleeve jerseys and tees.

From September 30th to November 30th, $15.00 of your purchase from the collection will be donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation* to provide help and hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.

Bloomingdales Giving Back - Aventura Mall

Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and Bloomingdale’s have proudly partnered since 2004 through the company’s Give Pink, Get More initiative. Each year, throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, customers can give back to BCRF while earning rewards by charging a $15 donation fee to their Bloomingdale’s Credit Card. Then, customers earn $25 in rewards for every $250 they spend throughout the month.

This year, Bloomingdale’s at Aventura Mall is kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its Pink Party on Oct. 8. From 1 to 4 p.m., guests can join in the fight to raise funds for a cure in support of BRCF and The Tutu Project with their Give Pink Get More enrollment. Enjoy DJ beats, a photo booth and more while you shop.

Over the past 18 years, Bloomingdale’s has raised nearly $16 million for BCRF through this remarkably successful campaign.

Through the collective efforts of its employees, consumers and partners, The Campaign supports more than 60 organizations worldwide.

Together, The Breast Cancer Campaign and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have funded more than $108 million for lifesaving global research, education and medical services – with more than $86 million funding medical research grants through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF).

Proceeds from this limited-time, pink rice paper-wrapped Butter Crab Roll will be donated to Pubbelly’s partner, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, to fund free wigs for cancer patients and survivors. The Pink Butter Krab Roll is available through October 31st.
