Beloved Colombian fashion label Azulu has officially opened its first U.S. boutique here at Aventura Mall, and if these photos prove anything, it’s that the store is a stunning reflection of the brand’s beautiful pieces.
The 4,000 square foot boutique, fully designed by CEO Alex Srour and Creative Director Maya Memovic, uses neutral colors, sleek design elements and Colombian inspired materials, contrasting sculptural details with playful, colorful collections to illustrate the brand’s signature style: a combination of sharpness and femininity
Srour and Memovic incorporated their modern take on Colombia, adopting elements native to Cartagena such as traditional arches, aged gold metal tones (reminiscent of the city’s Pirate era), and the use of textured glass blocks that speak to the movement of the sea, iconic to the brand’s home country.
The store’s Instagram-worthy interior provides an intimate, personal, and architectural atmosphere that perfectly plays homage to the Colombian heritage of the brand. Most of the furniture and fixtures, sourced personally by the team, are vintage with a focus on Colombian mid-century design and include additional key pieces by designers like Diamantina & la Perla and Verdi.
Memovic says, “Miami has always been a second home for us. As a family-owned and operated business, we are excited about this milestone that marks the next step in Azulu’s global brand and business expansion. We are excited to help further the moment that Latinx fashion is having and are honored to be pioneers working to pave a path for Colombia’s brands and artisanal crafts to achieve the recognition that they deserve.”
