If you’re one of the many people still dreaming of being a real-life “Emily in Paris” (from Netflix’s hit show) – or, better yet, her effortlessly chic French friends – we have some exciting news for you: Ladurée, has opened a full-service restaurant.
Since 1862, five generations have grown the Ladurée brand while staying true to the original and iconic 19th century recipe at the heart of its menu: two macaron shells filled with a delectable ganache. Today, the Holder family is at the helm of the Ladurée brand – and their story is one of friendship, family and passion.
In 1993, Francis Holder, son David Holder (now the president of Ladurée) and daughter Elisabeth Holder Raberin (now the CEO of Ladurée U.S., and the brand’s Director of Image and Innovation) would dine at the Ladurée restaurant in France. Francis was friends with the manager, who happily passed the company torch over to the family years later. The Holder father-son duo sought out to create a refined and authentic Ladurée restaurant on the most beautiful avenue in the world. That dream was realized in 1997, when they opened the iconic, 14,000 square-foot flagship location on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
Today, with several international locations in London, Tokyo and more, Ladurée has opened its it’s only Florida location at Aventura Mall, which Elisabeth claims is a natural fit for the brand’s DNA. “Aventura Mall offers a great variety of luxury brands and is visited by so many wonderful shoppers with excellent taste – we couldn’t imagine a better place to be in Miami than here,” she says. “It will be the perfect place for visitors to enjoy a nice breakfast, lunch, or coffee and macaron in the middle of their shopping day.”
The Aventura Mall Ladurée location is the first to feature three counters where guests can enjoy a front row seat to the preparation and plating of their breakfast items, such as avocado toast; lunch, including salads and sandwiches; and macarons. Similar to a fashion house, Ladurée reimagines its iconic desserts – typically twice a year – offering exquisite flavors such as the Rose Religieuse, Rose-Raspberry Saint Honoré, Liquorice Millefeuille and Blackcurrant-Violet. Elisabeth’s personal favorite? Rose; although she is also very excited about the new seasonal flavors.
The Ladurée team dedicates a considerable amount of time to creating delicious recipes using the best ingredients and all-natural flavors and colors, while also being mindful of sugar levels. “We’re all about good ingredients and great flavor,” says Elisabeth.
Better yet, Elisabeth adds that Ladurée Miami Aventura will feature a printer, enabling shoppers to customize macarons with messages. “They’ll make the perfect gift for any special occasion.”
Ladurée’s exquisite macarons are almost too pretty to eat but trust us – every bite is a French culinary masterpiece. Follow the “Emily in Paris” way and snap a photo for Instagram before you close your eyes, take a bite, and feel as though you’re dining on the street of Paris.
