Italian fashion houses brought their A-game to Milan Fashion Week, but did they also bring their passports? Despite nearly 5,000 miles of distance, we couldn’t help but feel an unspoken connection to Italy’s vibrant expression for Spring/Summer 2018. Imagine the catwalk was the coastline, and count the days until these four designer collections become available for the new season.

Is it just us or does Missoni’s blue-to-yellow ombre look a whole lot like the ocean meeting a sandy shore? A solid crop top and flowing skirt make this dress Miami-approved for a day spent by the water.

Roberto Cavalli masterfully captured leisure and elegance in one fell swoop. The designer stepped away from loud prints for an understated peach-on-white outfit that’s fitting for everything from mimosas in Sunset Harbour to drinks Downtown. Cavalli’s signature animal print is subtle and sophisticated, leaving just enough room for Miami’s wild side.

If Versace had a ‘greatest hits’ album, this look would top the charts. Donatella Versace used Milan Fashion Week as an opportunity to highlight the fashion house’s most iconic motifs and styles. As a tribute to the late Gianni Versace, who died in Miami Beach 20 years ago, Donatella hosted an emblematic and empowering retelling of Gianni’s most notable collections. Models proudly strutted across the runway in thematic patterns from the Warhol, My Friend Elton, Icons, Baroque, Animalia, Tresor de la Mer, and more. In an array of archives, this baroque cover-up stood emerged as an idyllic ensemble to sail away in.

Emilio Pucci

Emilio Pucci’s collection was designed for the city of Capri, but the brand isn’t fooling us. The pastel hues, retro patterns and flowing caftan-clad models seemed to have hopped off a time machine from Miami Beach in 1950. This comfy number proves the pajama trend 2017 is here to stay, so we’ll keep dreaming about this Spring/Summer collection hitting the racks.
