A Love of Art & Literature

A highlight of the Arts Aventura Mall Art Walk, “Florida’s Soul” by renowned Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa draws inspiration from the sculptor’s childhood home, one he often refers to as a “forest of books.” Plensa’s father was a lover of great literature and poetry, and this memory has served as a stimulus for one of the artist’s most revered and expansive sculpture collections – his large-scale, kneeling human figures comprised of steel, text-based imagery. These sculptures have been commissioned for public gardens, parks and university campuses from Hong Kong, Seoul and London to Prague, Budapest and New York…and, of course, Aventura Mall.
