Blahnik on the Big Screen
In addition to an insider’s peek at his creative process, the film features a slew of high-profile fans and peers, who reveal an unprecedented look at Blahnik’s whimsical world.
Born in the Canary Island, Blahnik began to make his footwear in London. But a New York character named Carrie Bradshaw on “Sex in the City” played by Sarah Jessica Parker took the cobbler to new heights. The documentary spotlights many celebrity endorsements from the likes of Anna Wintour, Paloma Picasso, Candace Bushnell Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Rupert Everett. Last September many of Blahnik’s fans were on hand to help him celebrate the Couture Council Artistry of Fashion award bestowed upon the designer at NYC’s Lincoln Center ahead of the Fall Fashion Week.
“Manolo Blahnik is fashion royalty and the king of his craft,” said Jamie Carmichael, film president at Content Media, the group holding the worldwide sales rights to the film. “He also happens to be a wonderfully colorful and fascinating man, with a unique world view.”
Although is not yet available, the documentary will be revealed to distributors during the European Film Market in Berlin this month.
