History of the Orange Bowl
The Orange Bowl is a fixture of Miami sports that dates back to 1935. In fact, it wasn’t always called the Orange Bowl! For the first two years of games, the Miami-based NCAA competition was deemed the Palm Festival. In the very first game, Bucknell defeated the University of Miami in a devastating blow – 26-0. In 1965, the Orange Bowl became the first college football game to be broadcast on primetime television.
