Slim Pickings

Miami’s fast-casual salad market is certainly thriving. But the appeal of a well-made restaurant salad shouldn’t be underestimated. These three standout restaurant salads are good enough to be the meal’s main attraction, not the obligatory-feeling addition, simply to get something green and vaguely virtuous on the table. Whether you are on a diet or simply enjoying eating mindfully, here is a short list of salads that will have you back for seconds in no time.

Serafina’s Insalata di Carciofi

This Italian chain is typically just a solid choice for streigh forward  meals and reliable business lunch. But it also makes a tangy, satisfying shaved raw artichoke salad, tossed in a simple lemon-olive oil dressing, covered with Parmigiano-Reggiano shavings, and served with lemon slices for further citrus spritzing.

Serafina Miami is located on the upper level, new wing.

Le Pain Quotidien’s Good Karma Watermelon & Feta Salad

Hands down the best salad for a health nut with a sweet tooth. This roasted portobello mushroom, quinoa taboulé, avocado with mesclun and vinaigrette concoction is not only good. It’s good doing. For every bowl purchased the restaurant will plant a tree with the National Forest Foundation.

Le Pain Quotidien is located in the new outdoor wing.

Classic American Wedge Salad at International Smoke

The shatteringly crisp hunks of iceberg here are drowned in smooth, creamy dressing. Flavor-wise, bland iceberg takes a backseat to salty, smoky bacon and the deep funk of blue cheese. This wedge also includes sprinklings of sharp green onion and sweet tomato.

International Smoke is located in the new outdoor wing.
