Shimmering, reflective and even muted, luminescence was all the rage on the runways for Fall 2018. Variations on the sparkle wattage ranged from subtle to over the top.
At Coach sheen adorned pieces that glittered and sparkled down the runway showing the exact reason why shine is the way to go. Gucci presented several glittering options, most notably long dresses that exuded regal privilege. At Louis Vuitton the excess meets casual in look that married denim and utilitarian details with ornate shimmering tops. Valentino took a bold direction by combining multiple of textures and styles for a look that was contemporary and bright. Philipp Plein took all the way to the moon and back with his unique take on more is more. That’s right, cool futuristic silver is the metallic to shine in. But if all this is making you think ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ – fear not. There are also cool, less ‘Hollywood’ takes on the trend – like the parkas at Isabel Marant.
