Each year, one in three women dies from heart disease and one in eight will be diagnosed with breast cancer. However, with prevention and wellness practices, as well as early detection, there is hope for a world in which no lives are lost to these diseases.
South Florida-based Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative (WBHI) is working to achieve this future through grassroots community efforts, including its annual Pink Walk, which is going virtual this year. Participants are encouraged to complete a two-mile walk anytime from September 20 to 27.
WBHI encourages everyone who signs up to “take the challenge” and nominate three others to join the Pink Walk. Participants can also set up fundraising pages to boost their efforts among friends and family. Those who raise $50 or more will receive a fundraising medal. This year’s fundraising goal is $20,000.
“Aventura Mall has been a wonderful supporter for many years. Together, we’re all about empowering women,” says Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative founder, Andrea Ivory, who is also a breast cancer survivor. “We are fortunate to have this relationship with Aventura Mall. Their investment in us is an investment in the women we serve.”
The WBHI’s third annual Pink Walk is supported by Title Sponsor, Aventura Mall; Presenting Sponsor, Jackson Health System; and Platinum Level Sponsor, Assurant.
