Each year, one in three women dies from heart disease and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. However, with prevention and wellness practices, as well as early detection, there is hope for a world in which no lives are lost to these diseases. This envisioned future is at the core of what The Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative (WBHI) is working to achieve through its grassroots community efforts, including its Pink Walk, which is hosted annually here at the best mall in Miami.
The WBHI’s third annual Pink Walk will kick off at Aventura Mall’s new Wing on Sunday, September 29, providing an air-conditioned and entertaining atmosphere for participants and supporters. The funds raised during the two-mile walk will be matched by Aventura Mall and donated to WBHI to support the organization’s efforts to save and change lives by providing at-risk women with the prevention and early detection education necessary to beat breast cancer and heart disease.
Participants have the opportunity to register for the namesake Pink Walk, or “Get ready to roll Stroller Stroll” – a fun new option for parents with young children. Event registration will begin at 7 a.m., followed by an 8 a.m. warm-up led by Equinox. The general Pink Walk will begin at 8:15 a.m., with the Stroller Stroll taking off shortly after at 8:30 a.m. Both walks will take place on the same floor from start to finish, and all who cross the finish line will receive a medal. Equinox will lead a cool-down, and after the event, guests are encouraged to partake in the best shopping in Miami.
Through July 31, the fee for each walk is just $15. Participants are asked to register with an attainable minimum fundraising goal of $50. All who fulfill this goal will receive a medal and help support the organization’s overall fundraising goal of $25,000 to be met the day of the event.
“Aventura Mall has been a wonderful supporter for many years. Together, we’re all about empowering women,” says The Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative founder, Andrea Ivory, who is also a breast cancer survivor. “There’s no better place to hold this walk than at a mall. This is where so many of us women go to shop, eat and gather – and now, we’re going to raise funds for one another. We are fortunate to have this relationship with Aventura Mall. Their investment in us is an investment in the women we serve.”
The WBHI’s third annual Pink Walk is supported by Title Sponsor, Aventura Mall; Presenting Sponsor, American Express; and Platinum Level Sponsor, Jackson Health System.
