Cheerful and Cozy: Pantone’s 2021 Colors of the Year Are a Welcome Duo

There’s no time like the start of a new year to reinvigorate your wardrobe and revamp your home. And with Pantone’s recent and highly anticipated “Color of the Year” announcement, we can finally pull some inspiration from not one, but two 2021 official hues: Ultimate Gray – a soothing, neutral shade – and Illuminating, a bright and cheerful yellow.

Truly the color palette we need and deserve after a tumultuous 2020, this blend of a happy primary color and a calming and dependable shade are a welcome addition to our lives. Pantone describes the shades as independent but complementary, representing a fitting theme of unity and mutual support, strength, optimism, and fortitude. It’s only the second time in 22 years that the company has chosen two colors.

Looking for a way to weave these colors into your closet, accessories and décor? Here are a few of our favorite pieces and products that will gain you Pantone’s stamp of approval:

Nothing like a bright yellow sweater to add a burst of Miami warmth to a cool “winter” day. Urban Outfitters got this one just right.

Looking to ruffle things up, try this cozy-chic sweatshirt from Ann Taylor.

Add some instant positivity to your day with sunny, smile-inducing bedding from Anthropologie.

Minimalist “serveware” from Dupuis will go with any theme or home décor you desire.

Leave it to Tory Burch to make perfect everyday handbags in both of 2021’s shades. Throw this stunner on and you’ll have an instant mood-booster with you at all times.

Cozy into the new year in a fluffy set that will never go out of style. We love this one from H&M.
