After 37 years at the helm of her eponymous brand, Carolina Herrera announced she will be stepping down as its creative director and will be replaced by Wes Gordon. Retirement, however, is not part of her plan. With the ascend of a new creative voice entrusted to continue in Herrera’s footsteps that build a billion-dollar fashion juggernaut, Herrera will be free to roam the world as a global brand ambassador and to be a grandmother to her 12 grandchildren.

Gordon, who has recently clocked in 11 months as Herrera’s creative consultant is well poised to take on the challenge. A charming Southerner, who was a two-time finalist for the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund and is an unabashed champion of an uptown aesthetic, Gordon is well versed in the language of the legions of Herrera’s fans. Stay tuned to Spring 2019 collections to see the fruit of his labor.
